Excellent value, some quirks
Paul_R 03.03.2026
I have to preface this by saying well done to Harley Benton for offering an affordable Thunderbird styled lefty as the market is devoid of them at the moment.

Pros,
Seems well built, pickups sound great and have a good range of tones just from blending them, tuners feel sturdy and smooth, the finish is a nice deep gloss.

Cons,
On my example the fret ends were quite sharp but that's nothing that can't be sorted in 10 minutes with a file.
Likewise the neck was set with a little back bow, easy enough to adjust and with any brand new instrument I would assume it needs a setup but I feel I have to mention it.

The controls are not what some would expect from a tbird, Master volume, Blend and Bass boost/cut.
The instrument actually has a 2 band eq fitted so I'll be modifying mine to have concentric bass and treble controls.

All in all a fantastic deal for the price, and a welcome alternative to hunting for rare used lefties

Q
Ridiculously good, adorable bass
QEronimo 13.02.2026
I've always had a weak spot for the Fire-/Thunderbird and now there finally is a (very!) affordable type for us lefties. And all I can say is; it's just ridiculously good. I don't really have Gib/Epi reference (only 'righties'), but for this price it's a fantastic bass overall. There are no apparent concessions at all, I expected the Okoumé body to be plywood but luckily it isn't, and to have active electronics is really neat. In active mode, the sound overall is very good and the low-end is crazy, but I usually play passive and in there the sound is fantastic as well. Being used to Fender-types, this is a completely different box of frogs (also sound-wise) and it's fully 'T-bird weird' and 'T-bird lovely'. Playability is excellent; it has been manually checked by Thomann and it needed no adjustments at all. Just like other T-birds it neckdives SO bad that I'm going to relocate the neckside strap-pin, seated the balance is a delight but standing, any playing is near impossible. That's the only real drawback it has and it can be fixed. This is the 4th Harley Benton lefty I just had to get just because it's too cheap not to, the 2nd with Roswell pu's, and it's again too good to be true. It's just as good as my high-end brand basses. Not a huge fan of sunburst finishes, but this 3TS is done really well. If there will be a cherry finish, I'll just get that too.

A
Great sounding bass sounds just like famous thunderbird tones. Finally a lefty thunderbird
AdamtIRE 03.03.2026
Definitely needed a small setup for the action out of the box but only needed a flathead screwdriver to lower the bridge. Can't lower strings individually!!! Only the entire bridge can be lowered
Huge amount of neck dive but what more do you expect with a thunderbird style, just need to put the strap peg on the back rather then top and it's fixed
