Boss GK-5B Bass Synth Pickup

Acheté il y a deux semaines pour le connecter un synthé GM800, j'ai monté ce capteur sur ma Jazz Bass.

Montage : Les accessoires de montage fournis avec n'obligent pas à percer l'instrument, ce qui m'inquiétait. Le support "pince" est efficace et n'abime pas le corps de ma basse, il donne la possibilité de le monter sur un autre instrument facilement. Pour cela je n'ai pas utilisé le scotch double face fourni, mais du scracth auto collant (fin) pour fixer le micro. Ca fait très bien l'affaire, et ca rend le tout amovible. La connexion via un câble stéréo rend simple et fiable le branchement final.

Le jeu : Je constate quand même une très légère latence (quelques Millisecondes) quand je joue rapidement (le synthé ou le micro ?), il faut juste prendre cela en compte. Il capte, à priori, tout, et l'élimination des ghost notes s'effectue sur le réglage du synthé.

Le son : On regrette l'impossibilité de ne pas pouvoir mixer le son en sortie de basse avec le signal capté par le GK5B (comme sur les GK3B, switch Synthé, instru ou mix) ce qui oblige a faire un câble double pas trop pratique (et lourd) pour avoir les deux signaux en même temps.

En résumé : Ce capteur polyphonique est simple à monter et simple à brancher si on ne veut avoir que les sons synthé.

Purchased to use with GM-800. To anyone thinking about buying, read the manual and watch the setup videos first. When everything is set up properly, it works incredibly well with the GM-800 even on the low strings. Any issues with glitching or tracking will be down to sensitivity settings, GK5-B pickup location and playing style. I've used various bass to midi devices over the years, and the GK5-B with the GM-800 is a seriously creative combination. Ensure you understand how the GK5-B works before you purchase it, and remember it needs to connect via the Boss serial GK cable to a compatible device. I play fingerstyle and this gives a lot of control very easily, particularly for keeping strings muted. I'd recommend trying the GK5-B on different basses and in different positions (use some temporary tape rather than the included tape) and give yourself time to experiment with the various configuration options. If you take your time and adapt your playing style to keep tracking accurate, this is a seriously worthwhile investment and opens up amazing opportunities for the bass guitar. Yes, it takes some work, but the results are amazing. Highly recommended.
