ESI uniK 08 Plus

benutze die ESIs im Homestudio (16qm), hängen am UR 44 von Steinberg, höre auch normal Musik damit, alles funktioniert gut, kraftvoller Bass und schöne Höhen, kann an Raum angepasst werden, z.B. bei zuviel Bass wegen mieser Raumakustik in den Ecken kann Bassreflexsystem geschlossen werden, hervorzuheben ist auch die automatische Abschaltung bei Nichtgebrauch, Preis-Leistung ist gut, klingt teurer als es ist, Zusammengefasst: die ESIs sind fürs Studio und zum allgemeinen Musik hören gleichermaßen geeignet, sind dadurch aber nicht ganz so brutal linear wie z.B. Genelecs, trotzdem zum Mischen usw. super geeignet , Fehler in der Aufnahme sind sofort zu hören

Soundwise I love the speakers. Full and balanced sound along the spectrum. Small dip in the crossover frequencies is to be expected but it is not noticeable. The ribbon tweeters are very smooth and I don't get listening fatigue even after long hours of mixing. The frequency controls on the back make a lot of sense and gave me enough flexibility to make the frequency response very flat with minimal DSP EQ. I especially appreciated the "Character" control.

Unfortunately after 5 months I had an issue with both speakers' power section. There must be a weak component there that got faulty and they now take 20-30 seconds to turn on. One is worse than the other, but both have an issue. Also the power switch sometimes doesn't latch. So I sent them back for repair.

Unfortunately I received them both back 40 days later, with the same issue at least on one of them. Ironically the service team couldn't identify the issue. So I am stuck with the faulty speaker and I will probably have to pay for local maintenance myself, as I won't trust Thomann's service partners to take it back for another 40 days just to send it back in the same condition.

I must note that the Thomann representatives have been kind through the whole procedure. But their service partner obviously didn't spend the time to actually check the unit and didn't bother to send a technical description as promised.
