The Thomann Nataraj sitar strings are the classic, traditional Made in India type: they look good, sound good, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with them. In fact, for their price, they offer a very respectable tone and feel. However, in my experience, they don’t quite reach the quality level of my preferred sets — La Bella (my top choice) or Pyramid, which both offer more clarity, sustain and overall refinement.
That said, these Nataraj strings have earned a permanent place in my toolkit as spare strings. They are especially useful for the sympathetic strings, which tend to break more frequently, and they also serve well as emergency replacements for any of the main playing strings if something snaps unexpectedly.
Considering how affordable they are, the value for money is excellent.
